After she matriculated, Nina Newman enrolled at Technikon Pretoria (currently known as the Tshwane University of Technology) in 1995 in Jewellery Design and Manufacture and completed her National Diploma in 1997.

Nina then enrolled for her National Higher Diploma in Jewellery Design and Manufacture (completed in 1999), where she obtained distinctions in all her subjects.

She was appointed as a full time lecturer in 2000, where she teaches jewellery drawing, design and history, and supervises the B Tech students.

She completed her National Certificate in Jewellery Manufacturing Precious Metal Working and Mounting in 2002.

Nina has been a finalist and won numerous jewellery design competitions.

She has appeared in various articles and exhibited at both galleries and jewellery stores. Some of her private commissions include the manufacturing of competition pieces, the manufacture of a brooch for the Vice Chancellor of TUT (Ms Adelaide Thambo), as well as to design and manufacture a pair of earrings for the wife of the Rector, Ms Tyobeka.

She has recently collaborated with four celebrities to design AngloGold exhibition pieces and is currently completing her Masters Degree in Fine Arts.
